The Pink and Gray Combo is Back

Written by faith | 0

Time for some deja vu from this interior designer in Seattle. Seems everything old is new again including the color combo of pink and gray. Does that bring back some memories? For many months the adage often repeated is that ‘gray is the new beige’. The warmer grays easily combine with many colors such as yellow, greens, metallics and pink.

Enter Pantone’s color of the year 2011, Honeysuckle. Florence Eiseman says, “in times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.”

Holiday Entertaining Simplified with Party Rentals

Written by faith | 0

Instead of Thanksgiving in Seattle, this interior designer flew to be with family in California. It was a wonderful potluck gathering of friends, food and conversation. With a phone call order, a table, chairs, linens and goblets provided a solution for focusing on the celebration not the fuss. How easy is this? And inexpensive too….

Mantel Mania for Holiday Decorating

Written by faith | 0

Yes, tomorrow is 12.1.10 and this Seattle interior designer is thinking about her fireplace mantel. Just like many of you. Hard to ignore it but what to do with it? Above my mantel is a favorite piece of art made for me by a dear friend, Mary Beth Fogarty, now deceased. I can’t help but remember her smile, abundant talents when I look there.

So my mantel design must reflect a piece of art and complement it too. So far this is one look that resonates with me.

Nostalgia accompanies our holiday memories so the wonderful fire and welcoming fireside chairs beckon us and our guests.

Here’s another favorite from Martha Stewart.. she always gets it right.
