Inspired to Free Francis the First Thanks to Bunny Williams

Written by faith | 0

When I listened to Bunny Williams at a luncheon in High Point, I heard her mention SCALE at least 5 times.. Buried deeper in her inspiring presentation were some other gems like these quotes. Listen to Bunny’s philosophy.

“Live well and in a wonderful way.” or my favorite, “Buy things to keep in your life.” More importantly she said to use them, like the sterling silver hidden in protective lining somewhere in your dining room. Once this designer in Seattle returned home, I freed Francis the First!

Reed & Barton Francis the First

Thanks Bunny! Francis brings thoughts of your inspiring design to me every day.

Often called America’s most glorious sterling silver pattern, Francis First is a true work of art, with each piece’s central decoration representing a different cluster of fruit and flowers. Chosen by three US Presidents as the official White House tableware pattern and me, many moon ago.

Your Home Resort Essential - Comfortable Dining Set

Written by faith | 0

I like this idea of a ‘home resort‘ as sunshine and warm weather approach outdoor spaces in Seattle. The most important purchase for a summer Staycation is a dining set that is comfortable. As we gather and entertain around the grill and our patio, a dining set that offers seating with comfortable, durable cushions is a must.

Comfortable Dining Sets from Legacy Casual

When I tested this set recently in High Point the arm pads immediately earned a big vote of approval. So much better than metal or wood to rest your arm! With durable, colorful and easily maintained outdoor fabric, this dining set will keep friends and family lingering around the table. In the past finding a comfortable seat at the dining set was difficult. Legacy Casual offers seat and back cushions that invite folks to take a seat at your table. The arm cushion is a extra benefit that adds oomph + a soft landing and support for your arm.

Outdoor Spaces: Keeping it Cool

Written by faith | 4

As you plan your outdoor space, you should plan for keeping beverages chilled and near your entertainment area. This Seattle interior designer sourced a resource while at the recent High Point Furniture Market from Gloster Furniture. The ‘insulated ice box’ is an extra benefit for a party when you need to chill lots of beverages.

Gloster Insulated Ice Box

The efficient cooler keeps drinks cold on the hottest summer day. This piece of teak furniture has stainless steel accents, a locking top and wheels for easy maneuverability. Gloster describes it this way, “Teak & stainless steel construction with fully insulated nylon liner. Lockable lid.” Learn more about Gloster Furniture by watching the videos on their Facebook page.

The Buzz About Bunny Williams, Beeline and Julie Browning Bova

Written by faith | 2

The opportunity for this Seattle interior designer to personally meet a favorite design icon, Bunny Williams, whetted my appetite for the April High Point Market. I was not disappointed. My second day found me at her showroom in the Hamilton district, Beeline. Bunny debuted her second collection for Beeline in a well designed and displayed showroom.

The next day I listened to Bunny’s quick wit and entertaining tale of her rise in the interior design profession. One word heard over and over from her is SCALE… I so agree Bunny! and I am five feet tall. Here she is at the book-signing.

The evening before I was a guest at the opening for Julie Browning Bova at Stanford Furniture. What a delight is this talented designer from Indianapolis. Her first collection is a stunner.. I so love and appreciate authenticity combined with design talent.

Julie details her collection with subtlety and exquisite restraint. This ottoman is a perfect example of just the right amount of interest and punch.

And of course the collection is complete with the Julie Chair. It is a great choice for living rooms and bedrooms with a super comfortable sit.

Can’t end this without remarking on Julie’s wonderful logo… totally engaging and elegant. Hats off to The Fashion Office who created it.

Canopy Beds for Cozy Comfort

Written by faith | 0

As this Seattle interior designer creates a master bedroom concept, I am imagining a canopy or almost canopy bed. With ceiling height at 12′, a sense of cozy comfort calls. With a view of the Puget Sound from the 35 floor, the outdoor drama is provided with lots of windows.

Quickly my client selected two favorite fabrics as a starting point for soft coverings. Both from Kravet.

Cameron Sable - Lee Jofa

Peony & Blossom - G P & J Baker

Albert Hadley from House Beautiful

I like this concept from a feature in House Beautiful by Albert Hadley in the April 2009 issue. But most likely, side panels rather than a full canopy will be sufficient. A mix of solids and complementary prints to be selected. But I can’t forget the charming, small chair from my client in a yellow and blue stripe.

Client's Petite Boudoir Chair

This composition of a master bedroom design concept combines some family sentiment, lovely colors and patterns, a cozy, comfortable bed and a million dollar view.

Heading to the High Point Furniture Spring Market and as you read this I am sourcing new products and sources. More on what I saw and heard soon.
