Nervous about Wallpaper? Start in a Closet

Written by faith on September 7th, 2009

In my Seattle interior design practice, I see the signs of a wallpaper comeback. For so many years, the trend was to faux paint and I am personally happy for a wallpaper craze. If you haven’t installed wallpaper or have very bad memories of removing wallpaper, consider there are many improvements. Wallpaper adds flair to a room. The colors and patterns in wallpaper create an effect hard to achieve using just paint and other decorating accessories.

Just about every wallpaper will be vinyl coated. This crystal-clear coating allows washing off dirt and smudges. The gloss on these coatings is slight, so imperfections on the wall are minimized.

Before applying wallpaper border or wallpaper prime the walls with a special paint. The primer prevents the wallpaper glue from penetrating through to the drywall paper. The primer allows the paper to be removed easily too. A benefit of using primer is the glue doesn’t set as fast, giving you time to position the paper as you trim it.

Many years ago, wallpaper continued into the closets as a finising touch. If you are new to wallpaper I suggest that you practice in a closet. In this practice area, you’ll discover how to trim paper at the ceiling and floor, as well as what to do at inside corners.

No mistakes saves dollars just like Fast Solutions.
