Big Screen TV Dilemmas Pre Super Bowl and Olympics

Written by faith

This expert Seattle interior designer frequently engages in the dialogue about the best view of the screen and the impact on home decor. Now that the season for viewing major events is here, beginning this weekend with the Super Bowl and continuing with the Olympic games and Oscars, here are my tips for placement.

As a little trivia research share, typically the over 45 crowd want to hide the set or reduce the impact by placement inside a cabinet which is either custom made or ready-made. But most viewers consider the beg-screen TV a fact of life and/or ‘work of art’ and hang it on the wall.

Here is a round-up of tips for big screen TVs:

  • Screens perform best when viewed straight on
  • Samsung recommends that you measure the distance from chair or sofa to screen and divide by 3 to determine the best screen size.
  • Height should be eye-level from a seated position
  • Height in a bedroom is slightly higher due to mattress height
  • Wires? If possible run behind the wall or place all the equipment in an adjacent room
  • The darker the room the better the image so consider dimmers
