How to Use Pillows to Add Power to your Interior Design

Written by faith

Pillows are powerful tools to add that final oomph and complete the interior design. This Seattle interior designer has just the photo to illustrate how a luxury master bedroom has a finishing touch. Thanks to fabulous fabrics from Duralee’s John Robshaw collection and Dedar, the impact is perfectly lovely in this high rise luxury condo master bedroom in downtown Seattle.

John Robshaw for Duralee and Dedar combine with Lawrence and Scott lamps.

Elephants are a favorite for my clients so they add sentiment to the design.

Fabrics and details make all the difference especially trims from Samuel and Sons.. a perfect pairing for this bedroom.

Previously, I have written blog posts about using pillows as a design element, you can read about 6 different ways to use pillows on your sofa. The key and critical element is to apply design elements strategically on one major furniture item in your home, the sofa, or in the case of this post, the master bed. In this bedroom, knowing my clients love of elephants, I added some whimsy with the strategic small pillow on the bed. In this room we added custom porcelain lamps from Lawrence and Scott in a soft glaze paired with chests from Hickory Chair that combine dual finishes of walnut and weathered mineral. The result is a collected composition tailored for this well-traveled couple. For myself I love the sophistication of the ‘collected’ example. The windows of this bedroom offer views of downtown Seattle.
