Instructions: No Nails, No Tufting = New Look

Written by faith

Over the past months I have worked with clients who have a very clear specification about upholstery. This expert Seattle interior designer was told at the beginning there would be no nailheads or any tufting. Given that nails are and have been HOT in all finishes and sizes this was a different direction. Nail heads often accompany tufting of upholstery so a clean and simple look was the direction for this couple.

Actually, as an experienced designer, it is refreshing to switch gears and step slightly off the current design path. The outcome is especially apparent in the dining chairs which used a great Donghia textile. The chairs themselves are from Hickory Chair (Madigan 5750) and favorites of mine as clients love the comfort and clean lines. Below are the before and after images for your comments.
