Interior Design Tips for Successful Room Arrangements
Written by faith on November 6th, 2009If you want to successfully arrange your furniture and have time this weekend, this expert Seattle interior designer has tips. This photo illustrates them very well. Use your furniture to define activities:
- Place the furniture IN the room not against the wall. Moving the sofa a few inches away from the wall opens a space visually
- Group furniture so that it relates and identifies activities like conversation, reading, computer work (think table). Multiple groups create interest and traffic patterns
- Area rugs are a boon to space planning. Again use them for a defined seating area or under a table or reading corner
- Select furniture with an eye to easy relocation and ability for one person to move. Simple pull up chairs allow guests to easily join in a conversation or game. Ottomans serve as seats and small tables are useful when people re-position chairs.
As you read these tips, refer to the photo and see how this room is successfully arranged.
