How to Calm Condo Clutter? Go Vertical with California Closets
Written by faith | 2For this Seattle interior designer, city living equals a condominium. Call it downsizing or urban living, it equates to less space. In a recent project the solution to condo clutter came with vertical solutions from California Closets. In this 1000 sf downtown Seattle view condo, the guest bedroom was also the office, a common situation. How to store files and still offer guests a place to land for a visit? What? no linen closet for extra towels, comforter, blankets?
For this project, the solution arrived in the form of maximizing vertical wall space within the condo. Let’s start with the guest/home office closet. First the client sorted out essential office requirements for space and files and then guest needs like bed size, a table and lamp and closet.

The closet now provides hanging space for a short term guest as well as office file storage for the home.
Next, the non existent linen closet. In the entry we swapped the existing entry closet for a 7 foot niche directly opposite. The wall displayed art and books which moved to another location. With a larger entry closet, essential linen storage has a place of its own plus the coats, boots, shoes, hats and entry clutter is hidden away too.

Probably the fastest and most efficient organization comes from a well organized closet. With an inventory in hand courtesy of California Closets, clothes, shoes, belts, purses and all are placed within easy view for my client.
A place for everything and everything in its place!
While you may not need a closet the size of Gayle King’s, we all benefit from a clutter cleanse and the sense of relief when we can find our clothes easily.
