Entertain in Well Decorated Style

The cleanse and donate actions require an design audit with a critical eye. Just how long has that accent pillow, throw, lamp and so on been hanging around? Accessories are the jewelry in your rooms. Next, target the key decorative items you crave… a chair, lamps, vases, art. What is needed to add some dazzle to your room design?

5 Basic Improvements to Make Your Holiday Entertaining 5 Star Events

Written by faith | 0

Did your kitchen finesse the big Thanksgiving dinner? Was it a 5 Star event? This Seattle interior designer suggests 5 basic improvements that make holiday entertaining memorable events for your family and friends. Christmas, New Year’s and the Super Bowl are right around the corner. Gather your family, friends and neighbors and start cooking in your beautiful interior and put some of these improvements to use this season.

Faith’s 5 Favorite Improvements for Holiday Occasions

  • A standard 30″ range can be limiting with a larger menu and crowd. A portable induction burner supplements your standard range and is readily available. I like this one from Fagor.

  • Pull out your Crock Pot or slow cooker. From casseroles to roasts, these versatile appliances are work horses. I used this one from All-Clad for T-Day.

  • Large crowds = lots of ice. Consider a portable ice maker and save space in your freezer. Major box stores have them readily available.
  • Small, portable wine and beverage fridges or installed dual-zone models will serve the home entertainer in good stead. I love Sub Zero for the selection.

  • Ultimate cool new thing for your island and kitchen, the Cool Drawer from Fisher Paykel. A refrigerator, freezer and wine cooling drawer all in one.

Please enjoy a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season with your family and friends.

This holiday season, gather family and friends in your kitchen and surround them with aromas of your marinara sauce simmering in your kitchen on your range. Imagine the stories, laughter and toasts as folks savor your tasty appetizers.

At Faith Sheridan Design Group, we applaud and congratulate lovers of cooking and food this season.

Holiday Decorations with Toddlers ~ What About the Christmas Tree? Can You Have a Beautiful Room Too?

Written by faith | 0

Over the T-Day holiday, I spent time with my California family and I assisted sorting the holiday decorations and considered interior design ideas. My daughter and I plotted the “where they could go” and where to place the Christmas tree. The goal for us ~ be out of the reach of my 18 month old grandson and remain a beautiful room design. This definitely got my memory going for friends, family and clients in a similar predicament.

So like many other families, the day after T-Day involved a trip to the local site for Christmas trees. The location to place the tree was already determined which means out of the reach of ‘the destroyer’ (as he is affectionately called). We placed it on the Hickory Chair chest and added lights, a tree topper and sentimental keepsakes (many made by my daughter as a child) to complete the theme.

Just Out of Reach

This Hickory Chair chest is a perfect placement for the tree ~ just the right height for this years tree.

Vintage Decorating Flourishes in the Georgetown Seattle Design District

Written by faith | 0

Vintage decorating is alive and well from the vantage of Seattle interior designer Faith Sheridan. And the action and interior design ideas are abundant in the Georgetown, Airport Way neighborhood of the Seattle Design District. Walking the shops and seeing the well priced, authentic accessories countered the headline story from the NY Times this week, “All That Authenticity My Be Getting Old“.

With a group of friends this past Saturday, we thoroughly investigated a few stellar locations beginning with Kirk Albert and Susan Wheeler Home.

Someone in our group made a new home for this owl.

Not to confuse any tourists since there is only one Seattle Space Needle, a remnant from Seattle’s World Fair 1962 would have you believe otherwise.

Are there two Space Needles in Seattle?

As Stephen Drucker, former editor of House Beautiful, aptly stated in the NY Times article, “A 1930s pickling jar from Hungary, or anything Etsy,” he continued, “serves the same purpose as a 20-pound Swedish crystal ashtray did for my parents: It says, ‘We’re different, we’re daring, we’re not boring.’ ”

At Faith Sheridan Design Group, our home designs sparkle with finishing touch accessories. We know that Small gestures make a big impact - an exquisite tray, a family heirloom, a painting, vase or jewel box form a beautiful composition and add the personal touch that makes your home complete.

Get Cozy, Beautiful Interiors with Accessories

Written by faith | 0

In Seattle, interior designer Faith Sheridan feels a crispness in the air. What accessories make your home cozy and a beautiful interior too? What about colors to add warmth, comfort and pizazz? Some favorites and go-to resources in this post.

  1. Snuggle comfortably with a vibrant throw. And my absolute first choice are the ones from Williams Sonoma Home~ talk about cutting edge colors + cashmere for that luxurious touch.

    2. Target now partners with Missoni and this flame-stitch or zig-zag throw offers maximum punch and warmth to a room design.

    3. Colorful pillows complete the cozy and beautiful design. I like the covers from West Elm since you can select the insert you like: down for soft or poly for firm.
