Lavish Visions, Inspired Design by Tony Duquette

Written by faith | 2

This expert Seattle interior designer took a break from blogging over the holidays. But that doesn’t mean I’m not absorbing all types of design related news. One article I enjoyed is from the LA Times about Tony Duquette. The image of a room he designed from the bird’s eye view for actor Tom Coburn caught my attention. What color and composition!

Duquette had a large and loyal film industry clientele. Among them: Hollywood tough guy James Coburn. In the actor’s foyer, vividly painted turquoise with a coral-colored staircase railing, Duquette created a massive chandelier centered on a mirrored disco ball. The chairs and settee are intricately carved Indian designs. Drums serve as side tables and, in the corner, as a pedestal for a ceramic pagoda, one of Duquette’s favorite decorative items.

This master bathroom designed by Tony Duquette Studios has walls covered with blowups of pen-and-ink drawings made by Duquette in Venice, Italy, in 1947.
This book is one of my favorites for inspiring design ideas. More is More , Tony Duquette by Hutton Wilkinson.
