Shapely Furniture Attracts Me

Written by faith | 0

Are you attracted to particular shapes? I know I am. As an expert Seattle interior designer, I generally am attuned to the shapes my clients find attractive, round, square, oval or rectangular, either by observation or interview questions.

When I visited the Hickory Chair showroom at High Point in April, I spoke for a few minutes to Mariette Himes Gomez, a leading designer with a collection for Hickory Chair. I shared my favorites with her and noted that I am a fan of softer edges and she concurred that so is she.

Take a look at some of favorites from Mariette Himes Gomez -

The shapely Charlotte side table; Continental Demi-Lune and Paris mirror from Hickory Chair.

What shapes attract you? not only as furniture but also as textiles, in art or graphics. Let the shapes you enjoy direct your choices.

Perfect Combinations at High Point

Written by faith | 0

This Seattle interior designer is still catching up from High Point and reviewing photos and notes. At the Hancock and Moore showroom, I was reminded how much I love ‘perfect pairings’ like the one below. Finding a great fabric for the chair back makes a strong design statement and this was one of those ‘perfect pairings’. What do you think?

I turned to Hancock and Moore to identify the fabric, Bianca Saffron and quickly reserved some yardage. The horizontal repeat of this fabric is 13 1/2″ and the vertical repeat is 27″. The repeats make the fabric work especially well for chair backs or pillows.
