The theme organizers chose for this year’s display gardens was “Once Upon a Time” and many of the gardens were designed to reflect classic stories such as Alice in Wonderland, Wind in the Willows and A Wrinkle in Time. But the recurring theme I saw was reclaimed and re-purposed materials. Tucked into the large and small displays I saw found objects like leftover floor tiles, round ceiling fixtures, wagons, old windows. Not contrived, these items were cleverly integrated into succulent gardens, patios and landscape designs.
