How Wallpaper + Fixtures Transform a Powder Room

Written by faith | 4

As I begin to design a powder room remodel, this interior designer in Seattle wants to explore what’s new, fresh and adventurous in todays powder room designs. The project involves much more than the powder room but I think powder rooms are such an opportunity to create a WOW impression.

I started my exploration with a video I found with lots of ideas to get my brain percolating.

Titled Powder Room Talk-HGTV, the video updates surfaces but not wallpaper. But finding the perfect one for a 1970′s home on the water in Seattle will offer a chance to look at new looks and companies. I began my search at Hermitage is a Home with Jennifer June. This is a fantastic site for wallpapers from smaller companies.

Description: Hand printed in a small East London studio, this collection is retro in style with a modern use of color. With bright and cheery designs these prints create a most inviting environment.

Since this project is on the water and birds abound, I like the idea of this paper. “Hand printed in sunny California, Madison & Grow embraces a green approach to the production of their line.”

Plan a Perfect Powder Room

Written by faith | 0

Call it perfect or WOW but a stunning powder room begins with a focal point. As a Seattle interior designer who’s designed many a powder room, my experience tells me it can be a sink, cabinet, mirror, wall-covering, color. It is something dramatic that immediately creates emotion. Powder rooms are made for statements so exaggeration is allowed. In a previous post about powder rooms, I shared an image from a San Francisco showhouse showing a very narrow powder room. In the photo below is a dramatic glass sink placed on a counter of reclaimed wood from a Street of Dreams I designed.
