The specific requirements were: maintain the Lake Washington view, a walk-in shower, more counter surface, storage and two sinks. They envision a serene, soothing, spa-like bathroom retreat with warm colors as the design solution.
Using an innovative shower tower as the structural support and focal point, the walk-in, wet and dry shower provides a translucent bathing oasis. Inside the shower, height-adjustable bodysprays, telescopic shower arms and a personal handshower unite in one plumbing installation. The shower is a haven for rejuvenation and relaxation. The outer shower is glass partitioned drawing attention to the custom cast and textured kiln formed glass. The spectacular 18” x 92” panel is iridized, opalescence glass created using a plaster mold.
Symmetry in the placement of the custom vanities allows personal medicine cabinets, pull out hampers and ample surface and storage. Honed Vyare gold granite and custom cherry cabinets, stained merlot, are accessorized with brushed chrome hardware, faucets and fixtures. A secondary linen storage cabinet tucks into the corner and features ribbed glass for texture.
The Versailles tile pattern of Claris gold marble on the floor and shower walls delivers a subtle textural message as does the use of tumbled, mosaic Sunset slate used on the shower floor and as floor base and vanity trim.
Warmth and richness communicate via the Venetian plaster wall finish in a soft amber tone. Warm tones of amber repeat in custom glass sconces, fused and slumped, placed on either side of the medicine cabinets. All plumbing fixtures maintain an understated biscuit color and add to the serenity of the space.
