Custom Area Rugs Complete the Design

You and your interior designer have picked the perfect sofa, the absolutely most fabulous coffee table, the must-have table lamps. What pulls it all together? The wall color, of course, but what about an area rug? Unfortunately, your sofa is a hard to find color and you’ve trudged through all the rug stores and catalogs, but nothing fits your personality, style or color scheme. Luckily for you, as your very clever interior designer, I have just the solution. A custom area rug from Delos.

The first step in the process is to customize the shape, size and pattern of the rug. Here are two renderings using similar color palettes, but very different patterns. By using cut pile, sheared, loop and spun bamboo yarns, the design become three dimensional due to the textural changes. Did I mention, I’m a textile junkie designer and designing custom rugs is a passion I’ve pursued since the beginning of my interior design career? Due to the hand labor of these custom rugs, at least 3 months or more is required for production.

Second step is to add color and quality- Delos offers an extraordinary array of color palettes. Quality denotes different manufacturing types and materials. These rugs are 100% New Zealand wool.Third step is to review a “strike off.” Delos creates a sample from a small area of the carpet design and sends to the interior designer for review. This allows my clients to examine the texture of the rug along with experiencing the design ‘coming to life’.

Fourth and final step is the receiving of the actual rug. When the rugs are shipped to the Seattle receiver, I arrange a time to inspect them for myself. Plus, I have a custom rug pad cut that fits each rug perfectly.

I just ordered a gorgeous custom area rug for a client. Here you can see the rendering and below it, the final result. Stunning!
