Sharing Love for Chicago and Jenn-Air

Yes, I am that fortunate designer who was invited to the Designer Forum this week at World of Whirlpool by Jenn-Air. So I renewed my love for Chicago and learned much about Jenn-Air. And what a treat to enjoy autumn splendor with nearly 5 hours to explore before our sessions began on Tuesday afternoon.

Great view of historic Chicago River

I meandered to the river then walked towards the historic Merchandise Mart knowing design inspiration would abound. I was not disappointed. One of my favorite Scalamandre fabrics, the zebra pattern in pink, was front and center in the showroom window.

Pink zebra on slipper chair is fabulous

Then I was off to the Chicago headquarters of Jenn-Air in the historic Reid-Murdoch Building, circa 1914. Home today of World of Whirlpool and Encyclopedia Britannica. The distinctive clock tower is below:

From the Jenn Air penthouse, the clock tower.

The staff took us on the building tour so we saw the same clock tower from the inside.

Now the demonstrations and the amazing chef, Ann Nolan in the kitchen.

Our teacher in the kitchen

Here is a demo http://youtu.be/ishymDVsx9Q. The cooking education and demos offered me real time knowledge of these appliances. I’m a big fan of induction. You can see many videos on You Tube of Jenn-Air appliances.

Dinner was spectacular. See the menu and mouth watering dessert below.

Yum
