Whether it’s the Mad Men mania or just a love of entertaining, the presence of bar carts start the party. But when did this bar cart business begin? Some date it to the 40′s when prohibition ended along with WWII and home entertaining was the rage. Front and center was a fully stocked bar cart to move throughout the party. Six seasons of Mad Men reintroduced the vintage bar cart along with mid century modern furniture to a new generation. Here is Roger from Mad Men proudly standing next to his. Whatever and wherever the source, the multi-purpose bar cart has a newly found place of honor in home entertaining. I love them indoors and outdoors for some glam and pure functionality. See previous posts here. (Bar carts - A Moveable Feast)
The recent High Point Market saw many introductions of bar carts including this one from Hickory Chair.
Bunny Williams added to her products at Century Furniture with this outdoor bar cart - a perfect party addition.
Since ‘brass is back’ you can have the finish of your choice with the Beckett available from Williams Sonoma Home.
Small versatile bar carts can multi-purpose in small spaces beyond the bar idea and instead work as a mini-island in a kitchen space. I especially like the Leon Bar Cart from Arteriors Home for this reason. It’s perfectly dimensioned for a small space, 37H x 18 W x 12D.
