All about the details. Magic returns to the furniture mecca of High Point. Say what? how? Back in my Seattle interior design business my brain slowly sifts through photos, interpretations and blog posts. See through the design lens of my eyes and what caught my design eye.
Craftsmanship shares embellishments like contrast welt, trims and tapes, nail patterns and finish work. These details represent luxury and customization and the personal story of our clients.
Design details on display
The talent to accomplish beautifully executed upholstery is plentiful in North Carolina and High Point. In this market it was abundantly on display. I love and appreciate the mastery of skills demonstrated in these photos. Alexa Hampton is fearless around color and pattern and that sofa says it clearly. And I couldn’t resist that armless chair by Nathan Anthony either.. very comfy too.
I’m all about comfort and thus my tagline ~ ‘comfortable luxury’. Enter this chair below from Henredon..it’s perfect for a media room, family room. Sheer comfort and generous in width. It seemed like a luxury interpretation of an adult bean bag!
More Magic with Artists and Glam
I was able to take a tour of his own lamps with Charlie West and learn about his start and love of glazes and pottery. His love of hand thrown pottery began in 1986 when he was an after-school employee at Sims Pottery. Today I am able to share his one of a kind lamps with my clients. Each lamp is an original due to the nature of the kiln and glazes. His lamps are seen in such national publications as Veranda, Southern Living and more.
Now for the Glam
Two companies, new to me this market, caught me with glam details. First, Taylor King with exquisite craftsmanship and comfort. There was much to capture my attention at this showroom but you can do your own wandering and I’ll focus on a few. Like this bench, the Grayton. Select from wonderful fabric options and make it your own. Their deep fabric library is a treasure trove for a designer and their clients.
I think of this chair as the ultimate chair for a parent to read stories in or snuggle. Pure comfort and so customizable if used in a nursery.
Next up is a showroom I was eager to experience personally after oogling and chuckling about the names attached to various items of furniture. Caracole did not disappoint in any way.
The description from Caracole says it better than I can.. it’s exceptional, “An all-around rule breaker, this European-influenced, low-profile sectional and sofa seating configuration can boast unique features like a double channel upholstered back, exposed stitching detail on cushions, softly rounded corners and leather wrapped, metal capped legs secured with industrial-styled metal brackets.”
What did I say about clever names?
I have a talent in seeing how to tie things together in a thoughtful and stylish way ~ all about details. You can experience just what that means by calling our office 206-973-3743 or using our contact page. I’d love to hear from you!
