Some time around the holidays, the non-stop buzz around Marsala, Pantone’s color of the year, died down. Acceptance is growing and ideas are plentiful for the how and where to use this color in 2015. This Seattle interior designer has some ideas about that.
Fashion always leads as this was all the talk in the fall. Many fashion bloggers and magazines revealed ensembles and ideas of combos that embrace this ‘rose-brown’ color. Fashion folks already know that this rose-brown color flatters complexions so using it in your own home offers the same opportunity.
Beyond your wardrobe, and in your home, there are small ways you can introduce Marsala. So I like the ideas of vases as a simple accent. And since this pair is also geometric and graphic there is a sophisticated flavor.
Another easy, simple way to introduce a new color accent is with a throw. This one from Surya is great for a sofa, chair or bed.
Ready to go big and bigger? How about this beautiful area rug from Oriental Weavers available this month. Thanks to an exclusive product development relationship with the color institute, Oriental Weavers has designs in Pantone’s recently announced 2015 Color of the Year ready to go.
Marsala is likely to be a popular choice in kitchens and dining rooms and will require a contrast trim paint like white or cream on millwork and the ceiling. A similar color from Benjamin Moore is Cinnabar.
Holidays are over and you’ve put everything away for the next holiday season. Is is time to add some Marsala to your home?
I want my clients to linger in their home because it’s the place they spend so much time, and it’s their refuge. To me, it should be the place where you’re inspired, nurtured, comfortable and just very happy to be in. Marsala may just fit that description.
