Welcome 2019 and introducing my word Opportunity
Opportunity is my word this year. One word centers my focus. And people do all kinds of interesting things to start the new year in my experience. Some do a cleanse after all the food and wine (and start an exercise program). Some de-clutter removing more than the holiday decor and then muse about the possibilities. And possibilities often include a fresh look for their homes after the Xmas clutter returns to bins. As a result, it’s much easier to take a closer look.
My 2019 Word
The word ‘opportunity‘ planted itself in my brain, somewhat spontaneously. And like an opportunity, an Oprah quote came to mind, “Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity. I like it for a variety of reasons. So here’s my opportunity moment(s) for 2019 so far. Expecting more opportunities as 2019 moves forward.
- Design opportunity as lovely clients passed the key fob to me so I can start on a ‘condo refresh’ as we’re calling it at the fabulous Cristalla Condominiums. This is the entire condo and below is a teaser of the open seating area which is a water view.
- Coming up very soon is an exciting travel opportunity to Tokyo. My California family, as I call them, are living in Tokyo for 2 years. A wonderful opportunity for them is also one for me. I plan to spend the end of January sharing hugs, stories and lots of walking as I immerse myself in this huge city. Precce Market is a share from my family.. and it translates to ‘pricey’. A brave name IMHO.
- The travel opportunity continues when I head to Chicago February 10-13. I’m invited to a training experience at GE Monogram Design Center. Located inside the Merchandise Mart, the itinerary includes 2 packed days of instruction and a candlelight dinner with Chef Jon. As a Chicago Lover, I am eager to see the city again and explore the design showrooms within the Merchandise Mart too. Design inspiration abounds.
My Instagram account will be full of photos of the opportunities described. So follow along on my travels and my project.
