When my clients purchased their lake view penthouse and roof deck of their Seattle home it soon became a journey of color.
Visions of the Seattle gray and gloom inspired my interior design clients to infuse color into their part-time residence. My first meeting with the couple was brief. The husband’s year-long honorary professorship at the University of Washington was starting soon, and the couple on their way back to their main residence in Pennsylvania where the wife was heavily involved in philanthropic activities.
The couple purchased the 1,800-square-foot Madison Park Penthouse with a 900-square-foot lake view roof deck to provide a comfortable home during the school year, and our firm was hired as their designer before the transaction was complete. Being a tech-savvy and highly organized designer, I managed the entire project long distance. The wife shared a few color selections she liked and we refined the color palate, created a sophisticated furniture plan, and selected fabrics for the space.
The clients did not have time to shop because of their travel schedule, so we sent a “party box” with ribbon-tied packages of furniture and fabric selections complete with an enticing description of each item.
The overall project was started in October 2009, and the interior was mostly complete by January 2010 with one trip west by the clients to approve the paint colors. The roof deck was completed in July 2010. Beautiful interiors for busy people delivered both artfully and efficiently perfectly describes our firm’s virtual business approach that few designers have mastered. Happily, this lake view penthouse and roof deck continues as second home retreat from their Pittsburgh primary residence.
