Some Tips When You Downsize
A downsize often reduces your house footprint by 50%. That’s a lot of stuff. As I work in condominiums and second homes with clients, I have tips I always share. So here are a few important ones if you are in downsize mode.

Seems Gap to Gucci is the new design trend language. Previously ‘design speak’ used phrases like low to high design. As I acquainted myself with a new Queen Anne project and clients, we adopted this phrase for our approach to their new home. We will be working in 5 rooms as we combine existing furnishings and add new ones.

Interior design signals in all forms and manner permeated the showrooms of vendors and manufacturers at the fall High Point Market. With a nod to the diversity in the marketplace, I saw sophisticated and clever gestures everywhere I walked. Yes, walking averaged around five miles a day minimum.
But first I started with a champagne toast (I do love champagne)…

Lucite or acrylic furniture is now a mainstay feature of interior design. But this wasn’t always so. Take for example 20 years ago when I started practicing as an interior designer. I have a vivid memory of the first time I saw a Plexi-Craft product used in an interior that was also the home of a fellow designer.
My friend collected antique quilts and wanted to bring them into her living room to display. Voila,…

Previously I’ve identified myself as a textile junkie. It’s one of my interior design passions. Why? There is so much history around textiles, culture and traditions. And if you’re passionate as I am about textiles, adding the rich history into your design adds greater dimension to your interiors. It allows a story to easily accompany the design concept. Along with the Junior League of Seattle (the Junior League helped establish Rebuilding…

It’s time for spring cleaning - time to open your windows and insert the screen doors. Time to switch cold weather and warm weather clothes. Time to clean out your closets. Whether you’re investigating what’s buried on the shelves of your linen closet or organizing one for the first time, I compiled the basics for your review. The number of beds in your home determines the quantity of basics for each bed.
For each bed…

The dust has cleared from the demolition and the next step is getting the new bathtub and valve installed. Now, remember I told you that I reduced the size of the bathtub from 72″ to 60″? Here is the new, shorter tub. It’s a little hard to see, but the tub to the right is the smaller one.
Next, the tile goes in. Really creates a completely different look, no? It’s amazing what you can…

I remember how important it was for my daughter and son-in-law to find a chair before they had their first child. There wasn’t much to choose from at that time and they ended up buying from a big box baby furniture store. The selection wasn’t very exciting, but they chose one of the available models. Many hours are spent there still with baby number two and the dog snuggled in on the side.
Luckily, Jessica…
